Allowing the Word of God to dictate your truth and ultimately change your reality...

If you ask the average person, what reality is they would tell you it's anything you can see, touch, hear, taste, or smell. That’s because as humans we are largely governed by our five natural senses. We have been trained so to speak to exalt the seen over the unseen. The tangible over spiritual. It causes us to focus on "facts” at the expense of truth. What do I mean by this? I mean that people seem to value their own personal experiences and those of others over the truth of the Word of God. I don’t say this in judgement but in love. I was once that person. I viewed google, doctors, and the opinions of those I loved as the ultimate authority in my life. I would make agreements in my heart with things that were never intended to be mine. See, I was a Christian most of my life. I accepted Christ at the age of nine. I knew some of the popular verses like Jeremiah 29:11 which tells us the plans He has for us are good. So how was my life falling apart at a time when it should have been the happiest?
Although I was brought up in church, I lacked true knowledge about my authority in Christ. I didn’t realize that I had the ability to trample over the enemy (Luke 10:19) but at the same time the authority to agree with him. I didn’t understand that by agreeing with what some would call facts, that I was opening the door to a lot more than I bargained for. I’ll give you an example…a few symptoms with a clear brain MRI quickly turned into months of being scared, sick, hospitalized, unable to take care of my daughter, and ultimately a MS diagnosis. There are plenty more details, but I’ll focus on what really matters in this story and on what led me to be completely healed and free of that terrible disease.
"You have to exalt the Word over everything else if you want Word results."
If we want to experience the promises God has for us, we must first be aware of what they are by getting into the Word. We have to get to know our Father, learn to recognize His voice, and discover what Jesus actually provided. It’s really only then that we can truly grab hold of and experience what He desires for us… those good plans the Bible tells us about. So, if His plans are so good, why are so many good Christian people being oppressed? It’s definitely not because of Jesus or God’s will. In John 10:10, Jesus tells us He came to bring life and life to the fullest! And in John 5:19 He says He came to do the will of the Father. So, by combining these two verses we can clearly see that God’s will was and still is that Jesus brings us full abundant life. This is what I’m referring to when I mentioned getting to know what Jesus provided. It empowers us to exercise our authority over the enemy. Once you know what you already have made available to you, it makes it easier to resist the lies in whatever form they are coming to you. In my situation they were symptoms. We have to decide what we are going to call truth.
I was in a desperate situation because not only was I suffering in my body, but my marriage was unexpectedly ending at the same time. Or so I thought...I'll get to that another day. I decided to give my heart wholeheartedly to Him and believe what His Word was telling me. Over time I started to exalt His Word in my heart over what my senses were telling me, as vision loss in one eye was sometimes a symptom. When Jesus was in the wilderness, He defeated the devil with the written Word of God. It's no different for you and me today. We have to identify the lie and attack it with scripture. It may look different for you than it did for me in the natural, but what’s been provided for me is provided for you! God is no respecter of persons. That’s what makes testimonies so impactful. What He did for another, He will do for you! He already did is the thing. Ephesians 1:3 says every spiritual blessing has already been lavished upon us because the Father sees us in Christ.
Seeing what He sees is such a big part of healing. Not only do you need to see yourself and your situation the way He does, but you need to be able to see it changed before you actually “SEE IT CHANGE”. That may not sound like exciting news to you, but 2 Corinthians 5:7 says we are to walk by faith and not by sight. It didn’t happen for me over night, but over time I began to view myself healed despite what my senses were saying… screaming really. Because I was looking to the Word for answers, the eyes of my heart began to open to a different reality. I saw myself set free because of what Jesus paid for on the cross. I saw that my healing was already provided and not something I needed to beg God for. I checked my reality with the Word and began to realize I was already healed. So when symptoms came to tell me otherwise, I would take the Word like medicine and set my focus on what the Lord was saying. Jesus provided the healing, and we provide the faith and trust that what He said is enough…that our reality isn’t just wrapped up in what we can see, touch, taste, hear, or smell. We must see His truth as our reality and allow His love to do the rest.
"You get healed when you see what He sees."
I encourage you to open the Word of God today and find out what He is saying about you…your healing, your future, and everything that He has already provided for YOU.
